Porteus 5.0 RC2 bug reports
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.tlp Well right you are, that does set the drives to the cool mode. Thank you! Label grep fix seems important and would be appreciated. Other quirks I've noticed and I'll try to research a little: I added a "sam" user to my changes, and when I use the cheat "login=sam" it doesn...

Porteus 5.0 RC2 bug reports
Hi Ed, I have porteus 5rc2 (with changes) working fine but the bug is that changes=LABEL should only match an exact label; instead code matches "*LABEL*" and spits up if results return multiple matches. I sometimes prefer lables to UUIDs as they are more descriptive and all my filesystem labels are ...

Porteus 5.0 RC2 bug reports
Trying 5.0rc2 just now, a few comments: I had a couple of partitions with similar labels (space, ssdspace) and encountered a problem with the cheatcode "changes=EXIT:LABEL:space/p50/porteus/" ; (space=sda6, ssdspace=sdb4) On boot porteus says this: setting up directory for changes sh: sdb4: unknown ...

Porteus v5.0rc1 problems
Hi porteus people, I have a feature request or 3. When I travel my porteus environment often ends up running on a MacBook with broadcom wireless. I always end up building this driver myself from the slackbuilds. I have this working on porteus 3.x and 4.0, works ok most of the time but the connection...

Re: Porteus 3.0 final feedback
Hi all, thanks for the new release, it is working really well here. Still testing and building some stuff, but thus far 3.0 is all aces, everything I couldn't get working in earlier versions (since way back) either works here or I've been able to build it and make it work, no problem. :Yahoo!: worth...

Re: Porteus Desktop Edition 3.0 rc1 bugs/feedback thread
Here's my first impressions, kde4 on 64 bit, 3.0rc1 Google earth (from wreads module) works on x64 with intel video, but not with the nvidia driver (it segfaults). I can post better info later (sorry). I haven't tried to debug, I will look for duplicate libraries if I get this before help arrives. i...

Re: Christmas wishes for Porteus-3.0
@wread Thanks much for the google-earth tips, makes sense. I have tried your module on my Porteus2.1 x64 system and it launches (so it's better than my module already) but it doesn't render. I believe the problem is mine now because I haven't tested it on stock porteus and my module stack still incl...

Re: Christmas wishes for Porteus-3.0
My wish is for a working google-earth module. I have one that works with Porteus 1.2 but nothing since. It's hard to know if the problem is with the 32 bit compat libraries or kernel or nvidia incompatibilities or whatever, but since I've seen howto's for current slackware I think the problem is my ...

Re: Google earth on porteus1.2 x64 with nVidia
Sadly, while this howto describes a working setup on porteus1.2-x64, I have not been able to get google-earth working on the porteus1.2update-x64. I tried nVidia driver version 304.37 (which is what I have working on the original porteus1.2-x64) and driver 310.19 and some versions in between. No luc...

Re: Porteus booting is not selective!, let's change that....
I'm currently trying to get extlinux to boot a kernel and initrd from a device/partition other than the boot device (where extlinux is installed)...maybe there's an easy config option for this, but I haven't found it yet. Extlinux (and isolinux/syslinux) doesn't know how to navigate other partition...

Re: Porteus-1.2 feedback
Hi Porteus Devs, I have a request that level2 ISO 9660 filenames work with isolinux booter in future releases, in other words please consider to add "-l" option to mkisofs in make_iso.sh. My porteus worked fine from USB with all my custom syslinux configuration files, but not all configuration files...

Google earth on porteus1.2 x64 with nVidia
I've got Google earth 6.2 running perfect on Porteus 1.2 64 bit with the latest nVidia drivers. Since I found this trickier than expected I write this howto. Googleearth is a 32 bit application so it needs some special attention on 64 bit porteus. The nVidia x64 drivers on Porteus site are not compi...

Re: Porteus-1.2 feedback
Latest release is working super & is appreciated! I have been working with it a lot and I haven't seen a bug or been stumped to make it do anything, even kinda crazy stuff. As a nit, I note the following in txz2xzm: find $TMPDIR/usr{/local,/}{man,info} -type l -name "*.gz" 2>/dev/null | xargs -r gun...

Re: Porteus v1.2 rc2 x86_64 is ready for testing!
I use save.dat manager to make a file 1800 MB on my USB stick and it works fine. I make save.dat file 2600 MB and it fails to mount it (fails to touch ._test1 or something like that IIRC) I can point at problematic linuxrc line if it's not obvious (but source of problem is not obvious to me) These t...
