Re: Feedback and Bug Reports for Porteus v2.1 RC1

Thanks for the v2 point release; I may try this out on my home kit from later this week. Perhaps it will fix the showstopper problems with my two main computers. BUT - I will need the VirtualBox Drivers modules (!) Can these be packaged please? I already downloaded the x86_64 isos to try, but there ...

Re: peazip 64 bit

Please read the PeaZip Docs carefully. There are some major compatibility issues with this archiver format. [ i.e you may archive stuff with one version and others may be unable to retrieve the files when they are unaware of the version issues ]. I have had to re-do nearly 3GiB of cloud stored stuff...

Re: Porteus v1.2 rc2 x86_64 is ready for testing!

Planning ahead for the Weekend and Mon/Tues: when I was to move everything over to Virtualbox 4.1.14 ...So I was rather counting on no personal "showstoppers" in RC2... Need advice on one major issue for my usability. kppp has been dropped, damnit(!) - BIG PROBLEM for me. I was surprised too by the ...

Re: HP Pavilion DVx AMD Netbook: 64bit LiveCDs

Thanks Guys. If its a quiet week at work I'll have time to play. Will take my collection of Porteus 64bit CDs with me. @fanthom: Thanks for the step by step CD rebuild guide. If I ever succeed in getting past a flashing cursor (and hangup) I'll do just that! @brokenman: Thanks - the nohd code will s...

HP Pavilion DVx AMD Netbook: 64bit LiveCDs

Last September I bought an HP Pavilion AMD A4 vision Netbook to satisfy mobile computing needs. It is a REAL PAIN to use 64bit LiveCDs with this Netbook! There is no "boot from USB" option available. I dont want the complications and risk of data loss of trying out installed Linux 64bit Distros as D...

Firefox 4 series Orphaned? + x86_64 Online Updating

After checking out the Mozilla Security announcements and related articles yesterday I seem to remember a statement that further support for Firefox 4.0 may be skipped and a transition to 5.0 made. Orphaning the v4 series. With the nicely ciustomized (slackware access plugin) in the next release - c...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-rc3-x86_64 "Unplanned release"

@jcuk did you install Vbox extension pack as per this thread announcement? http://porteus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=187&p=841 Yup! I omitted to say in my original post that I had, then appended a general statement I'd installed it But not How. Heres the How  Doing this exactly the same w...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-rc3-x86_64 "Unplanned release"

Am I in time to report some Problems since RC1? I am entirely "Save to RAM" + VirtualBox module focussed user First stage testing of RC3, first run with 15+Hours uptime of running Host+Guest VMs. Having considerable difficulty "passing through" my USB storage devices to any Guest Virtual Machine sin...

Re: What language do you speak?

@fanthom no way...... - no additional features after rc3! we must stop at some point and release 1.0 [..] (i'm glad that you people want to contribute here but i want to get my summer back!) Amen to that! We are now past the peak of Summer (longest day). No day is ever long enough when you do softwa...

Re: Welcome box being implemented

@fanthom hmmm... some time ago brokenman wanted to do the same thing but he decided to not continue working on it. Reason: Porteus is a livecd linux and "Welcome" popup box at every boot can be little annoying.... (same as asking for changing default passwords) How do you want to deal with it? EDIT:...

UK Country/Keyboard selection for LXDE

Working from LXDE VirtualBox VMs in RC1, as KDE is temporarily not usable for that
No choice of UK Country/Keyboard selection here, that was only added to KDE (thanks!)

Can we have a UK choice built-in here too please?

Re: Porteus-v1.0-rc1-x86_64 last call for testing

@fanthom Thanks for the advice! Happily working from RC1 LXDE for the last 24Hours One bonus already - no mysterious loss of resolving; VMs running continuously. Busy working with some Python math stuff, will post again when I have more experience from RC1 as a host. Display on my Home T180 box is f...
