Re: What is your favourite desktop?
I prefer the smaller lighter desktop environments. I don't use kde or gnome because of bloat. I have always been a minimalist when it comes to putting together almost anything. So you may not want to add my vote for lxde.

I'll still be around but due to time constraints I might not always post. I try to peek in daily.

Re: Broken Internet
Shortly after I started this thread. My internet connection went down. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought that. This is some serious crap. Someone must have clicked the link. Anyways It was not my idea, I got that from that show "The IT Crowd". This show cracks me up. The internet is in this b...

Re: Porteus stats report
I am sorry the only reason we have so many windows connections. Is the fact that I am "time poor", so I cant pull out my little linux laptop. I just grab any computer that is on. Usually involves punching someone in the face to get them away from the computer but it is very effective. They learn the...

Broken Internet
I had just found out from a very reliable source. If you google "google" you can break the internet. So no matter what don't do it.
Warning don't click the following link unless you are interested in breaking the internet.

Re: 500
You mean to tell me that is when windows is not functioning. I thought that was all it did. You install it then get BSOD. Thats it! Done finished. You know The funny thing is if they used a linux base kernel. It would not be as imbarassing as a BSOD, cause the only to see if the kernel is locked up ...

Re: [INFO] PXE (Small General Overview)
The pxelinux.0 is the network bootstrap program. It is based off of the syslinux boot manager. I don't believe the pxelinux.0 is compressed(under step 4 you have firmware being unpacked), So the firmware acts like grub/lilo/syslinux, it hosts your boot options. pxelinux.0 calls your kernel+initrd wi...

Re: [INFO] PXE (Small General Overview)
I haven't used porteus for doing this yet as I don't have the time to set up a small network with two computers. But yes the computer that you want to be the server needs to start using pxe boot option in porteus. If you didn't select this at boot on your server you can manually start the scripts to...

[INFO] PXE (Small General Overview)
PXE is short for P reboot E x ecution E nvionment. Short and simple definition this PXE allows us to boot the computer over the network not requiring harddrive nor cdrom. You can do this with as few as 2 computers (1 server, 1 client), or as many as can get your hands on. Reasons for PXE booting: $...

Re: Warning Health Hazzard
WOW... Um I originally intended for this topic to be a joke. Now it seems that it has taken a serious turn. I have a problem that are caused by my eating habbits. Not once was I ever treated for how much I eat, I am not morbidly obese nor have I ever been. My body actually handles hdl, ldl, and trigly...

Re: Warning Health Hazzard
Wow this stuff is very intense. I know tv is just a perversion of reality, I don't watch. I do listen to a lot of radio. In the news on tv they always preaching doom and gloom, terrible people doing terrible things, I know I get this on radio too, but I normally tune it out. I also think the greates...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-rc3-x86_64 "Unplanned release"
@Ahau In the docs under bois config Delete key is a common key for older hardware. Escape key was just for skipping extended memory test on old hardware I don't believe I have never used escape key for entering bios config. Have never used tab before either. I have run into f1,f2,f10 and usually on ...
