IMHO, looking at the numbers, seems to me that the wizard, like other said, has been largely abused: as people doesn't seem sensible at all of the resources involved, offering it as a paid feature could be a nice solution.

I agree having tmps for this is good, but I think maybe you need plenty of ram for this approach... kde-4 creates few hundreds MB cache files in /var/tmp - 1GB of RAM available for apps is reduced by size of files which are kept in /tmp and /var/tmp folders.
